NCCCLRA Annual Conference

Treasurer’s Report:

 

Deborah Foster reported for the fiscal year.  Balances are as follows:

6/14/2004:                   Checking                      $   4644.75

District Reports:

 

District 1 – The district met on 10/7/2003.  A presentation about online tutorials was presented.

 

District 2 – At their 6/10/2004 meeting, each representative discussed events, accomplishments and concerns.

 

District 3 – This district met on 4/30/2004 and discussed accomplishments, challenges, and developments at the colleges.  Information was shared on archiving and library instruction.

 

District 4 – A meeting was held at Cape Fear Community College on 7/1/2004.  A workshop was held to identify and share authoritative web resources available at no cost.  Other topics discussed include an LRA website and NCCCS update, instructions on how to borrow Soaring for Excellence, and computer sign-in procedures. 

 

District 5 – A meeting was held on 10/17/2003 and topics for discussion included LRC procedures for AHS/GED students, review of state library organizations and the state of learning technologies system-wide.

 

District 6 – No report.  Due to the distance between schools in this district, it is difficult to meet.

 

Conference Committee Update:

 

Harry Cooke thanked the Dennis Wicker Center, the caterers, and the Conference Committee for a job well done.  He asked everyone to start thinking about topics for next year since this will be a priority at the next Executive Board meeting.

 

Committee Reports:

 

Membership – As of July, 2004 there are 103 members.

 

Training – The Soaring for Excellence tapes are ready for check out.

 

Priorities – There are several priorities, one of which is the gathering of statistics to validate our need for additional money for materials.

 

Awards – no report

 

Nominating – The responsibility for the election of new officers was completed.
